He had traveled the world and seen his share of beautiful churches. So Barry Cox of Ohaupo, New Zealand decided that he would construct his own chapel made of living trees — big enough to seat 100 people!
It took four long years of hard work planting more than 4,000 trees, but Cox ended up with a wonderful church set on three acres of surrounding, magnificent gardens. He used a huge, specially designed tree spade — a giant machine that is big enough to move entire, full sized trees.
He even created a labyrinth for walking meditation.
You start to get a sense of how well designed the grounds are when you look at the aerial view.
The inside is sort of like sitting the forest.
